Over the past 24 hours members of the WTFD participated in an Open Forum discussion operated at a working fire and operated at a serious MVC with entrapment. On May 27th a panel including Fire Commissioner Ed Etschman District Chief John Hoffman Company Chiefs Jim Spratt and Rob Borkowski and AC Mike Vinci discussed issues such as training response plans and a summary of the past 5 years. The night was successful and the leaders of the WTFD were able to voice their opinions on some of the topics stated above. Immediately after the meeting WTFD units were dispatched to Raymond Dr. for a reported dwelling fire. Chief R. Borkowski 10-301 arrived on location with nothing showing and advised E-1032 to investigate the dwelling. Investigation was negative and units cleared within 30 minutes. Early in the morning on May 28th WTFD units were dispatched to Garfield Ave. for a basement fire. Chief R. Borkowski 10-301 arrived on location with light smoke showing. L-1026 was first due and the crew made quick work of the basement fire. At approximately 0920 hours Engine 10 and Station 10-3 were dispatched to a MVC with entrapment in front of the Cherry Tree Shopping Center on Hurffville-Crosskeys Rd. District Chief J. Hoffman 1001 arrived confirming two patients trapped in separate vehicles. Crews from R-1038 and E-1022 worked quickly to extricate the victims within 11 minutes from vehicle 1 and 12 minutes from vehicle 2.
